History

This Temple is on the banks of the river Tamiraparani and it is the second temple for Lord Siva. The location surrounded by hill and hilly areas is named as "Kurinchi" in Tamil. Such areas are also called as "Kurichi".

As an illustration, we may quote the names of places such as Tirunainarkurichi and Manavalakurichi. Here we have Mahadevar Temple with the shrines of Vinayaga and Naga.
